Barbara Pofcher 1924-2024 |
Barbara Pofcher (Rudolph) of Newton MA and West Brattleboro VT, passed away on April 5, 2024. She was born January 12, 1924. For 59 years she was the beloved wife of the late Harvey Pofcher. She was the loving mother of Steven, Eric (Wendy) and Amy (Enrique). She was also devoted to her seven grandchildren and was a dear sister to the late James Rudolph (Adrienne).
Barbara was an exceptional woman and, being 100 years old, was a role model for many of her younger friends. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1945, where she became an avid bridge card player. After college, she played bridge three times a week and she achieved Life Master status.
Graveside services on Monday, April 8th at 11:00am at the Roxbury Lodge Cemetery, Baker St., West Roxbury.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fanny Pofcher-Golda Griefman Scholarship Fund at Hebrew SeniorLife, 1200 Centre St., Boston, MA 02131.

- Unit 108 (Eastern Massachusetts): Joe Lanzel (5-20), Cesare Verdi (20-50), Robin Zelle (50-100), Doug Costello (100-200), Mine Usluel (300-500), Walter Driscoll (500-1000), Emma Kolesnik (1000-1500), Ethan Wood (1500-2500), Larry Lebowitz (2500-3500), Harrison Luba (3500-5000), Natalie Bassil (5000-7500), Alan Watson (7500-10,000), and Zach Grossack (over 10,000).
- Unit 113 (Central Massachusetts): Eric Xiao (500-1000) and Jeff Xiao (1000-1500).
- Lanzel, Verdi, Eric Xiao, Wood, Lebowitz, Luba, Bassil, Watson, and Grossack were first in District 25 (New England).
- Lanzel, Wood, Grossack, Harrison Luba, and Eric Xiao were first, second, fifth, tenth, and tenth respectively ACBL-wide.
- First in unit Helen Shanbrom Ace of Clubs races:
- Unit 108: Cesare Verdi (20-50), Doug Costello (100-200), Joe Taverna (300-500), Barbara Tarlin (2500-3500), Cilla Borras (3500-5000), Natalie Bassil (5000-7500), Joe Cappannelli (7500-10,000), and Sheila Gabay (over 10,000).
- Unit 113: Chuck Rossi (1000-1500) and Jeff David (2500-3500)
- Tarlin, Bassil, and Gabay were first in District 25.
- Gabay was fourth ACBL-wide.
- Harrison Luba, Eric Xiao, and Jeff Xiao were the top three youth (under 20) in District 25 and second, eighth, and tenth respectively ACBL-wide.
- Zach Grossack, Harrison Luba, Ethan Wood, Eric Xiao, Jeff Xiao, and Emma Kolesnik were the top six juniors (under 26) in District 25 and first, fourth, sixth, 18th, 20th, and 25th respectively ACBL-wide.
- Zach Grossack and Adam Grossack were the top two players in District 25 and fifth and 22nd respectively ACBL-wide.

The ACBL continues running Support-Your-Club online games that proportionately benefit whatever clubs you played at in 2019. Thank you for your support!
